James Wade, originally from South Wales, has been living in Australia since 1959 but only became a formal Australian citizen on Tuesday July 8.
The ceremony was held at the Narromine Shire Council Chambers with Mayor Dawn Collins officiating the proceedings.
In attendance at the ceremony was James’ wife Sue and daughter Nikki, members of council, Mayor Dawn Collins and special guest Dawn Fardell.
The momentous occasion marked the importance of sharing a common bond, involving reciprocal rights and obligations, uniting all Australians, while respecting their diversity.
After James made his pledge and signed the documents, the citizenship ceremony was concluded with the Australian Anthem, and James receiving his certificate of official Australian citizenship.
