The date has been set for the Narromine Shire Showcase to be held on September 6 at the Narromine Aero Club.
Narromine Shire Council general manager Ian Rogan said the showcase would aim to show potential residents and business owners all the shire has to offer.
“We want Narromine Shire to grow and be a vibrant place,” he said.
Committee member Susie Collett said Narromine is a wonderful place for families to grow in and we should share it with others.
“It’s got all the assets of being close to a big centre and all the benefits of a small town including fresh air, community involvement and great facilities - you can’t beat it,” she said.
The committee has identified a list of key assets of the shire and will organise stalls around the themes live, work, rest and play. Assets include affordable land and homes, hospitality, education, medical facilities, sporting clubs and gardening clubs.
The committee is in the process of determining which assets might be best represented throughout the day, and who would represent them.
Council events and development officer Peter Kuhner consulted 25 businesses in the shire about the showcase.
“The majority of them said they would be interested in participating,” he said.
Mr Kuhner said the chamber of commerce had also been very supportive and has been involved from the outset.
Mr Rogan said the showcase is planned to be an all day event and September 6 was chosen as it is the start of spring.
“We wanted to dodge the school holidays and most people felt it suited their business at a time when the town looks its best,” he said.
Mrs Collett said the committee would like to see every aspect of business in the shire represented in their respective categories.
“If any businesses out there would like to register their interest they can contact Peter Kuhner at the council on 6889 9993,” she said.
“The committee is looking for community input as well so if you have any bright ideas feel free to contact us.”
