The critically acclaimed show The Pitch will play in Nevertire on Friday May 30 for the Warren Arts Council, in association with Outback Arts and Critical Stages.
Peter Houghton brings his hilarious character Walter Weinerman to life an aspiring Australian screenwriter just about to pitch his screenplay to an all powerful Hollywood film industry panel. There’s a lot at stake for Walter and he only has one shot at it. His desperate efforts involve him demonstrating all the roles he hopes will be played by Hollywood’s A list actors including a clenched teeth Clint Eastwood, a debonair Sir Anthony Hopkins and a scintillating Catherine Zeta Jones. In a desperate attempt to make everyone happy he’s also tried to capture as many of Hollywood’s favourite movie themes in the one movie, resulting in an action/mystery/revenge/loser-makes-good/romance set in a host of exotic locations.
“Every now and then in the theatre you get the pure pleasure of seeing an absolutely wonderful performance.” Amanda Smith, Artworks presenter, ABC Radio National.
“Peter Houghton is funny. His play, The Pitch is really funny ... a romp ... hilarious ... a riot.” Kate Herbert, Sun Herald.
