Bowls team make it to semi-finals

9/07/2008 12:53:00 PM
Saturday afternoon saw three Narromine sides travel to Dubbo Railway playing for a spot in the District fours semi-finals.

Sadly one team made it through with Robert French steering his team to a handy 17 shot win over the highly fancied Dubbo Railway rink.

Frenchy and co get a weekend off this week with the other side of the draw having to catch up. Good luck in the semi.

Saturday afternoon will feature the final of the A grade singles with Rick Bohm taking on John Edwards, in the absence of President Des, the marker for the match will be vice president David McNair. Best of luck to both players in the big one.

This weekend sees the commencement of the B grade singles, with round one taking place on Saturday and round two on Sunday. Saturday matches are: Game one: T Perino v P Randell and game 2: C Bullock v H Gammon, both winners advance to round two on Sunday morning.

Sunday matches are: Mark Collins v Saturday game one winner, G Bohm v Saturday game two winner, B Maher v B Bulley, G Anderson v A Sambrook, L Hutchison v P Harding and M Hilder v B Riley. Saturday matches commence at 1.30pm while Sunday matches commence at 10am.

All matches are play or forfeit.

Thursday social bowls saw 26 players go round with M McIntyre, G Allen and T Webb taking out first prize while N Bootle and B Davis got their hands on the runner up trophy.

Sunday morning numbers were terrific with 34 players doing battle over the traditional 12 ends.

When the dust settled it was P Schink, R McLelland and B Bulley who came away with the winners cheque while D McNair, C Harris and B Maher finished a close second.

Don’t forget bowlers that nominations are still being accepted for our Presidents Day, which will be held on Sunday July 20.

Nominations close on Thursday July 17 so be quick to get your team in as this event is filling up swiftly.

Good luck also to Arnold Gillespie and Don Sullivan who will be doing battle

this weekend at Dubbo in the Zone Senior pair’s championships, all the best Don and Pud.

That’s it for this week, good bowling.
